Investment Conferences 2017

Sunday, April 30, 2017

In May, we hosted our annual investment conferences in London and Zurich. Typically investors focus on near-term developments rather than the importance of longer-term investment planning so ‘Investing into the Future’ was selected as the theme for these events. Clients were invited to reflect on a variety of investment capabilities and strategies which have the potential to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Douglas Branson, Head of UK Distribution and Daniel Durrer, Head of Institutional and Fund Distribution (Continental Europe), opened the conferences in London and Zurich, respectively, and outlined the agenda for the morning.

Larry Hatheway, Group Chief Economist, then surveyed the geopolitical landscape over the near and long-term and took stock of trends in the world economy and asset prices. Guest speaker and Europe’s leading Futurologist, Mark Stevenson, highlighted trends he believes will shape the world in the next 30 years, helping us to see how we may best adapt to monumental changes to the world in which we live.

A group of our investment specialists then presented their thoughts on long-term investment strategies and solutions in round tables across various capabilities, including European equities, emerging market equities, Japan equities, emerging market fixed income, absolute return fixed income, alternative risk premia, global fixed income and currencies.

Delegates then reconvened to hear Tim Rainsford, Group Head of Distribution, reflect on the main questions asked during the round tables and conclude the event.

Clients left the events equipped with ideas and direction for longer-term investment solutions.
